Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar pulls up officials over administrative lapses in Mysuru Medical College

Mysuru: Health & Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar instructs the officials to resolve administrative lapses of Mysuru Medical College with in a time bound manner. He visited the hospital on Wednesday to review the academic progress and administration of the institution.

Speaking with the media here Dr Sudhakar said that single contract to be awarded for MMC, Cheluvamba hospital and PK Sanatorium to prevent lapses in outsourcing. He also instructed the officials to cancel the existing separate contracts.

There is a need to maintain quality and transparency. If the hospital faces any legal issues then it should approach government for guidance. Taking the dean of the college on task who fumbled to provide information about international research articles and peer reviewd papers published by the college, Dr Sudhakar said that one should not continue in a responsible post if he is not capable of delivering it. It will not be tolerated in the future he warned.

Minister got furious about failing to utilize the fund allocated for managing the building from past three years. He also passed strict instructions to complete all renivation works in stipulated time. Tender should be as per the government policies for hostel repair and procurement of equipments. The agency must be competent enough to supply the order and all these information has to be passed to DME, urged the Minister.

Minister also assured that the request of MLA Nagendra to initiate measures to establish cancer treatment centre at Super specialty hospital in PPP model will be approved. He also assured to provide Rs. 52 Crore funding for renovation of KR hospital building which is going to complete centenary next year.

Minister instructed DME and Principal Secretary to hold review meetings once in a while and conduct spot inspection if need be. Mysuru, Bengaluru, Bellary and Hubballi medical colleges are pride of Karnataka and they must be developed as model Institutes. He added.

Speaking on generic medicines the Minister said that people should stop giving slips to patients to purchase the medicines from outside. Measures will be taken soon to restrict opening of private medical stores within certain limits of generic stores.

Skill labs will be established in MMC on the lines of Bengaluru Medical college. A high level committee will also be established to supervise all 4 hospitals here. The Minister said. He also gave instructions to complete the works on trauma care unit on priority. DME Dr.Girish and MLA Nagendra was present.
